RMA - Return to Manufacturer
by jeff on Apr.27, 2007, under Technology

Well sure enough something else has come up that has to be taken care of::: my power supply or as the kids say PSU (seen here) 120mm fan refuses to spin as it should..which left me with no choice but to call up Ultra and RMA this junk for a new one. it’s only like 6 months old!!
I am still well within my Warranty for a new one and the process went quite smoothly (so far). I just got done talking to them today and my new one will be @ my house on Tues. I will update when/if i actually receive this unit on Tues.
until then its back to the good ol Antec 350w PSU….which i’ve had for about 3 years now. maybe that’s why Antec cost more!!!!
::UPDATE::
4/27/07
Ultra shipped me an upgraded PSU for the same price
I now get 600W
Ultra / V-Series / 600-Watt / ATX / 120mm Fan / 20/24-Pin / SATA Ready / Power Supply (ULT33133)
So far so good!! I’ll believe it when i install it and my pc turns on!
You Know You’re From Virginia Beach When…
by jeff on Apr.25, 2007, under Random
So I was perusing the interweb yesterday and randomly stumbled across this list of Vah Beach stereotypes
You Know You’re From Virginia Beach When…
- You say you’re from “The Beach.”You just call it “The Boulevard.”
- The word “Weak” means “Funny.”
- Jet noise doesn’t interrupt your conversations.
- You don’t think you have a southern accent.
- You begin every sentence with “Dude.”
- You shake your head when someone calls it “Boogie-boarding.”
- The worst cut down in middle school was to be called a “Poser.”
- You know what 422-8823 is.
- You’re at the beach during a hurricane.
- You’ve ever bleached your hair.
- You can spot a Navy squid from a mile away.
- You’ve been up in The Jewish Mother.
- You’ve snuck into the old Cavalier Hotel Pool.
- You havent been to “Wild Water Rapids” in years.
- Your high school is smaller than the junior high school they just built next door.
- You call it “Gang Run” instead of “Green Run.”
- You call T.C.C. “Virginia Beach University.”
- You think a t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops are proper attire in February.Youve ever owned a beach-cruiser.
- You vacation in Nags Head.
- Beach week is every week for you.
- You think Nova kids are a little weird.
- You know that Volcom is a brand, not some guy from Star Trek.
- You know that Hurley is a brand, not some generic Harley-Davidson.
- Guy’s volleyball doesn’t seem that strange to you.
- You know what a gerard golden is.
- You’ve ever used a fake I.D. at the Pour House.
- You can spot a Navy squid from a mile away.
- You’ve spent time at Coney Island Games waiting for your movie at Pembroke.
- You remember the mini-Epcot center at the beach. You know the Haunted Fun House looks cooler on the outside than the inside.
- You know what dome shots are, and you would like some of them in the near future.
- You’ve seen Rudy from Survivor in Farm Fresh, buying beef jerky and tampons.
- You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from Virginia Beach.
your thoughts are welcomed.
…and now its time for a 7/26/2005 blog post
by jeff on Apr.24, 2007, under Poetism

the darkness inside that rivals the light
blinded by the hearts of many
reveal the eyes true destiny deep
thats blatenly covered by mans deceit
-the translation to my writing tonight is as follows:
the struggle between happiness and doubt of life or depression is a
constant tug of war. one minute people are happy the next they are
suddenly drowned in sorrow and a feeling of defeat.
the reason this is felt is due to people not believing in one another
to complete what is beset before them. the words “can’t” or “won’t” is
what drives people to success or self-doubt. the glass is either
half-full or half-empty. there is no in-between.
only the person who is daunted with the “can’t” or “won’t” task has
the ability to be 100% truthful to what it’s like. only they can decide
whether to let it own their lives or let it motivate them to great things.
man and its marketing have targeted these people to fail. success
comes at a price of either education or wealth. what is wealth?
the media constantly reminds you that wealth is ca$h only, but fails
to include good human nature from parenting or likewise, as wealth.
money is in no means bad, but you are led to believe without it you
are not wealthy, or with it you are not doing enough.
project time
by jeff on Apr.23, 2007, under Technology

ok so now that fiesty fawn has been released i decided to take on another project that ive been putting off for wayyyyyyy too long…putting mythTV on my media center pc:
800mhz AMD Athlon / 768mb RAM / 250gb HD/ GeForce FX 5200 / Audigy 1 / Hauppauge PVR150 /
i know youre prolly saying “why does he still have this old pc?” well the answer is simple really…..it still runs everything media related!!
currently runs -> YME / divx, xvid, etc… (except new HD formats) / dvr / winXP
with that being said i would really only use it for YME / dvr functionality because the XBMC can do everything else including work as a frontend with XBMCmythTV .
thanks to this it should be a rather straight forward install (hopefully).
another softball season starts tonight
by jeff on Apr.23, 2007, under Softball

we’re coming off a championship year last year and you know what they say….. its even hard to repeat. guess who cares? NOT ME! i mean ill go out there and play but if we lose so be it. i have too many other things to worry about than softball..which is why i almost didn’t play this year.
such as:
- MCSE classes start May 15
- wedding events to plan
- and a general lack of enthusiasm for softball
